I blame the economy: Random Tuesday Thoughts

It means I’m not posting pictures of my grey silver hair!
It also means it’s time for Random Tuesday Thoughts. If you’re new, it’s pretty self-explanatory. We all post our thoughts, which are random, today, which is Tuesday. Then I think you have to leave your webbylink or something technical like that. Also, show some community spirit and go visit other people fumbling around this wild wild west that is the internet.
(People that are participating in the random thoughts, that is. Just to be clear.)

So, I didn’t get that job. I’m pretty bummed about it. It was an actual social media job, you guys. They do exist!
I’m self-medicating to get over the disappointment. I don’t have any wine in the house, but I do have an entire chocolate cake. Well, half of one. Now.
The exciting part is that I was told my social media “credentials” more than passed muster. So now I have carte blanche to market myself as a “social media maven”.
If I can figure out a way to say “social media maven” without sounding like a complete asshat, that is.
I also went to a career fair this morning. Because, y’know, the root canal people were all booked up.
I think the most annoying thing about job hunting is the time it sucks out of my life. I could be doodling or twittering or whittling or…something else that sounds vaguely pornographic.
On that note, someone who ‘discovered’ my site on StumbleUpon categorized it as pornography. Wasn’t that nice of them? It’s only been categorized that way for…oh…two years.
My thoughts aren’t all that random this week. Here’s a pirate-ship-themed bedroom, which I obviously must now possess. (Right after I get a better job to pay for it.)(Ooops, so much for random.)
Speaking of social media asshats mavens, I am now also on Tumblr. Because obviously I don’t have enough to do. And, because I have a vendetta against superfluous “E”s, you can also befriend me on Flickr.
I think that’s about as social as I’ll get for a while.
But if you want to make friends, RTT’s where it at! Random up!

Bummer about the job. But that's super cool that you are a maven! Pretty soon every self-respecting business will need a social media maven. I think I'm serious about that.

Sorry about the job, but I agree with you that social media is where it is at. So keep at it girl! Whittling and twittering does sound slightly pornographic. LOL That's brilliant. May I borrow that? LOVE IT!
Sorry about the job... That really stinks.... Thanks for mentioning your silver hair... It reminded me that I have to make an appointment to get rid of mine this weekend :) Thank goodness you had some chocolate cake around. I can't imagine running out of wine. We stock our basement just in case....

I am sorry you didn't get that job! Darn!!! That sucks for sure! Now, as you have said, you get to do the job hunting scenario...yuck!! That is about as exciting as dating or a root canal!! Ha!

First of all, that pirate bedroom is THE BOMB! I will immediately be remodeling my master bedroom.
Second, I am envisioning that you didn't get this job so that you can get the next one. In my mind's eye, you are like Galadrial in "The Lord of the Rings" when she hold's the ring of power and then goes on that big power trip and turns all x-ray colored and such. You will be that. Only whatever the equivalent of that is to social media outlets. All powerful and stuff. Yeah.
Sorry about the job. A real social media job is pretty hard to come by. I'll always think of you as a social media maven ;)

There is never any shame in eating an entire chocolate cake..or half of one, no matter what the reason. :)

Sorry also that I"m a grown up lady yet still can't say "booby prize" without smirking.
So social media...is that working in the MyFaceSpaceTwitterBook type arena? If so I'd suck at being a social media maven. I deliberately shun all of those because honestly, I have enough dilemmas blogging and whining and doing real life activities and procrastinating to ever have time to be witty in 140 characters or less or while cyber farming and dodging friend requests from people I've never heard of. I'm moving soon and I've decided when I do I'm not even going to have a TV. It's entirely possible that by a year from now I'll be Amish. So long as the Amish get to swear and drink tequila, often simultaneously. Sorry again! :)

Our specific job title is considered "Online Media" according to all of the press credentials I'm given at events. We write for our blogs and participate online in Social Media so it's like we're TV people on the web. We are so totally badass.

That sucks about the job, really. But chocolate cake can fix almost anything.
The pirate bedroom would go over great with my oldest. The youngest does not really know what pirates are yet. He'd go for a scooby doo bedroom--which could be cool.
Sorry about the job - I can't believe you of all people are out of wine! Too bad Canadian Customs are such sticklers for shipping wine across the border - wonder if I could pass off a case of wine as grape juice? At least you had the chocolate cake.

Bummed about you not getting the job. You would have been a natural. They don't know what they are missing. Silver haired social media mavens don't come around everyday. No RTT for me today. My job is a real time suck this week. I really wish I could find a job that didn't put so much emphasis on me actually showing up.
