« So long, and thanks for all the fish: Random Tuesday Thoughts | Main | Oh, there was some stuff and some things and some links to distract you from my lack of clever: Random Tuesday Thoughts »

I didn't draw the part where I fell asleep.

I've continued to try to meditate at least once a week (I'm not very good at doing it on my own.  I have to GO somewhere).  I still have a hard time with focus.  As evidenced by the comic I drew for my quarterly contribution to our collective (clicky makes bigger):

(Yes.  I thought it up while I was meditating.  Obviously.)

That's exactly how my meditation would go. Allowing my mind to "empty" just allows all the things that I need to remember have center stage.
Hope the meditation helps you and you can keep the other stuff from taking over.

Too funny! I meditate too and there is a saying among meditators that makes me laugh: how on EARTH do other people plan their day? (that's for morning meditators!)

I don't think I could do the meditation thing because I can't make my brain shut off either.

LOL I know what you mean. I try to meditate and my mind starts doing acrobatics. No matter what I do I get lost on in the chaos in my head.

I think the last time I was able to meditate mindfully was when I was 17, and I had squat to actually think about in the first place. Maybe if I had kept it up in the 14 years since then, I'd be better at it?

I love the looming monsters and the seemingly competitive meditation partner.

Excellent work. I love the little dude. He's my favorite interruption well because he's not my interruption.. And he's kyoot!

So you're not meant to fall asleep?

That really must take some solid concentration. I don't know that I could pull it off and certainly not in my own house. Possibly my own city.

That is exactly what deadlines would look like! I also like your knees and the growing agitation in your (formerly) composed fingers. ha ha ha

Me likey. It's EXACTLY what meditation is like.

    Love LOVE the drawings. Love.

Yeah, I don't really get meditation, but I'm open to trying it. I'm open to anything. Remind me to tell you about when Matt tried to hypnotize me.

Perfect! Except the part where my foot falls asleep, and I spend several minutes deciding if moving it is cheating on the meditation.

Ahh, I'm not the only one with this problem. I've stopped even trying to make a quiet moment for mindful anything. I figure if they won't let me take a krappe in peace, they certainly won't give me time to sit and think.

This is what would happen with me if I tried to meditate. That's why I just distract myself with the internet.

Loved the cartoon and yes that is how I meditate too!! Ha!

That's about how it goes for me then I nod off to sleep. Then I usually drool a little, possibly a snort or snore gets through.

I can't meditate either but that's because all of the zen-truders live inside my head. (love the comic...you've got mad drawring skills!)

The fuck off I'm spiritual tag says it all.

    March 16, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterfrogmama

Really, you meditate? Fun. Personally, I'm scared to try...I might learn too much about myself. And yeah, the FO I'm spiritual tag does say it all...

Brilliant, and so very very true- add 5 dogs and a grandson barging in and that's me. I acutally bought a meditation cd recently so I don't have to do anything but follow along with the breathing- if I am counting my breaths I am less likely to be distracted- at least for the first 3 minutes.

    Hilarious!

    Exactly!

Your meditating thoughts rival my "trying to sleep" thoughts. It sucks when your mind races when it should be chill.

    Nice comic, dude.

    March 17, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterCasey

This is what happens when I wake up anytime after 4 am and try to meditate my way to sleep. If you can clear your mind, you just don't have enough going on!

    March 17, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterSylvia

LOL This is awesome, and I think it rings true for a lot of people! (I know I can't focus for shit when I try meditation)
The depiction of the looming deadlines is epic :D

I can't meditate. I do yoga but there's always a song playing i my head so it makes it impossible for me to shut my mind off. Right now I have Flight of the Conchords stuck in there.
