I'm talking about ACTUAL wrestling, people, it's not a euphemism. Well, it's still fake, but, y'know. (Random Tuesday Thoughts)
Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at 6:03AM
It's the first Tuesday of the New Year! The New Decade, even.
I feel like there should be something sparkly here.
That seems like a lot of work, though, so I'll just jump right in.
I'm blogging tonight to the background soundtrack of Bret Hart's "triumphant" return to wrestling.
Yes, I DO live with a 12-year-old boy (who lives in the body of a 35-year-old man). I'm thinking at some point I should have The Talk with him, y'know? The one where I tell him that some things, like Santa, the Easter Bunny, and wrestling, aren't *gasp* real?
Oh, here, I found something sparkly:
What?
You know that needle-scratching-off-the-record sound that they use in movies and TV to indicate an abrupt and awkward end to the action?
How does anybody under the age of 20 get the reference?
Oh, wait. DJs. Okay, never mind. Carry on.
I went shopping today and all the Valentine's crap was already crowding the shelves. Baby Jesus is crying, you guys.
Tomorrow is my first day back to work since before Christmas. I'm crying along with Baby Jesus.
There is a lot of pleather, booing, and bad combovers in this WWE thing.
Best costume EVA.
Sorry for all the very abrupt random thoughts today. They're all I can muster before I get distracted by bad rock music and fake grunting and WRESTLING ANNOUNCER VOICE GUY. Also, I've been off work for a week. I thought I'd relax and do a lot of Nothing. So I did that, and apparently my brain atrophied.
It was probably dangerously close to liquefying anyway.
It's nice to see that political incorrectness is still alive and well in wrestling. They just tossed a little person a cookie for attacking on cue.
I tore through the entire run of Runaways trade paperbacks in two days. I know I read quickly, and comics obviously makes it even quicker, but now I'm thinking about getting some kind of e-reader. I don't read as much as I'd like to, just because I don't have time to get to the library or bookstore. Obviously I prefer actual books - I stare at a screen plenty already - but if I could just download books I'd probably do more reading, which would be a plus. Does anybody have a Kindle or anything? Like 'em?
There, now you have a starting point for your own random thoughts! Got some bits left over from last year, or some shiny new 2010 thoughts that you need to get out there? Write em down and link em up!

Oh God, pro wrestling, really? Jamie has a friend who used to guilt him into watching it all the time and Jamie wanted to drive a screw driver through his eye. Now, we just watch the kids attack each other and it's pretty much the same thing.
Happy Tuesday. Try not to make baby Jesus cry anymore.
Valentines stuff are already up???? really??? I guess we still have a few days of after Christmas SALE.. whew!!
Oh and i've heard so many people talking about this e-reader that it makes me want one too.. y'know... NO.. STAY WITH THE BOOKS... but i want one.. NO... shut it drives me kookoo-bannana:P
Happy Tuesday and 2010 and here's my http://designitchic.blogspot.com/" rel="nofollow">Randomness today!
Going back to work sucks. You have my condolences. Sending your kids back to school though...whole different set of emotions. Maybe Baby Jesus doing cartwheels or the macarena.
The cookie monster slayer was very cool. Although if you were going to put down a puppet, Elmo would've been my first choice.
I was annoyed by the Valentine's Day stuff last week when I had to do grocery shopping on New Year's Eve Day - especially since Princess Nagger was with me and nagged me to pick up a few heart things.
So that's what happened to my brain. It atrophied. Whew! I thought maybe a zombie had a nibble. ;)
I'm with Mrs. Bear - going back to work sucks, but sending the kids back to school (and the Hovering Hubby back to work) is cause for Baby Jesus doing cartwheels or the macarena. Hell, I'm exuberant enough to do cartwheels and the macarena. ;)
NO! Say it isn't so about the e-reader! I did a whole post yesterday about why they are evil. Like Superman dies kind of evil.
Don't do it....I'll cry.
And yes I love the 75% off Christmas ribbon next to the Valentines Candy Hearts. That's all kinds of messed up.
Happy RTT!
What wrestling is not real? And the Easter Bunny. Thanks for dashing my dreams and hopes today. Now I can go to work :)
Two days before Christmas we saw Christmas, Valentine and Easter candy all mixed in together. My 7 year old said "Do they have a calendar with 3 holidays in one month?"
I just don't get the appeal of wrestling at all.
Sorry - I love those pure sugar and chemical laden conversation hearts, so I celebrate the Valentine decor taking over Christmas!
There is a LOT of cagefighting and WWF and MMA watched over here. When the testosterone gets really high, they put on the boxing gloves themselves or get out the nerf swords. And NONE of it is fake! Come on over!
Happy Tuesday!
Thank God I have no wrestling fans in this house or someone would have to die. Now, if I could get them to turn off ESPN for 20 seconds life would be good.
Don't really see the need for a Kindle though some libraries love them. You should check to see if yours checks them out. That way you could give it a test read.
Having abrupt random thoughts is a special talent you have...it seems like it should be easy to have random thoughts, but last night when I sat down to blog that talent escaped me! I have more of a "blank mind" talent.
Thousands of children are weeping at the sight of that costume.
And I can't believe I missed B. Hart's return to wrestling. How wet was his hair?
My mom wants a Kindle. I keep telling her it's Mac based though so she hasn't gotten one yet. She hates Macs. :-)
LOL. I'm crying with you and baby Jesus too... I don't want to be back at work!
Oh gone are the days of Hulk Hogan, Junk Yard Dog and Rowdy Rodney Piper.
LOL, I used the word "album" one day and the kids looked puzzled. I didn't think to reference the DJ thing, good call.
Oh I tried hard to win a Kindle during Christmas, but it didn't work. I love actual books too, but I don't have the shelving or the time either.
Thanks for a great RTT. Have a Happy New Year!
I just managed to get one holiday out of my head and already they're shoving another one in my way. I am SO VERY anti-Valentine's Day. It's never worked out well for me.
OMG, the Valentine's candy was taking over the shelves of the store here before Christmas was even over! Seriously, I went to get some good teeth-rotting crap to stuff the kids stockings with. The chocolate Santas were gone and huge obnoxious chocolate hearts had taken their place.
I have a Kindle, which I like, but don't love. How I got it is actually kind of funny... My Dad wanted to buy one for my Mom after she "test drove" my Aunt's and liked it. Well, he's kind of technically inept, so when he was ordering from Amazon he somehow ended up with THREE Kindles. Instead of returning two, he gave them to my family and my brother's family for Christmas.
Anyway, I like reading on it because it isn't heavy and you can "turn pages" with one hand. It ain't cheap, though, and you can't share books with friends, which is half the fun! (I have heard that you can share on the Nook, but haven't looked into it since I've already got the Kindle.)
I'll try to be random later today. Work took away Blogger *sniff*, which may also make Baby Jesus cry...
Wrestling huh? I used to watch a lot of wrestling in college (hanging around with boys who owned the TV).
Since my birthday is Valentine's Day, I don't think there is enough preparation. Shouldn't the preparation start in November?
I agree with Mrs Bear, Elmo would be the way to go. He is way more irritating than Cookie Monster.
oops the photobucket isn't working for that pic. :(
Did you hear the LP's are coming back? apparently the sound is better for some reason.
Pro wrestling reminds me of a Greek tragedy gone bad!! Bad hair; bad costumes; bad; bad; bad!!!!! Love your sparkly stuff...really added to the whole first Tuesday of the year! LOL!!!
Have a really good day
Hugs
SueAnn
Sorry, I'm all about any holiday that involves other people giving me chocolate, so Valentine's Day it is.
PB wants to get me a Kindle (his Uncle let us borrow his for a book), but I'm not sold yet. There are so many different brands now that do different things! Damn, it's like buying a computer...
i totally want a kindle. my husband gave me a long list of why i shouldn't get one. but i WANT one now.
What? Baby Jesus could kick Cupid's ass. He should stop the crying already.
LOVE the Cookie Monster Slayer!
Sorry about having to go back to work, that sucks, I know. Even sorrier that you're married to a wrastling fan (as my Grandpa use to call it). He watched it as well. Horrid *shudder*.
I like the idea of an e-reader, but I don't know if I'd actually like using one. I don't blink as much when I'm looking at the computer screen, so my eyes get really dry and itchy. That doesn't happen when I'm reading, so I just don't know. Plus, they're all brand new right now, so if it was me and I did want one, I'd wait to see what bugs there are, or how much will actually be available to put on them. You'll have to let us know how you get on if you end up getting one.
I have a kindle and I love it. I've been reading a lot more now that I have one. It's just a lot easier to download books, and there a lot of classics that are free. I think people make library hacks too that you can use to get free e-books from the library
