Because if you don't, they might "sue" you

Gotta love those unnecessary quotation marks! I am always on the lookout for them. Have a great WW!

well someone has to do the people watching

    September 30, 2009 | Unregistered Commenterkyooty

    That is awesome!

Ah, yet another reminder of the stooopid people that need this guidance.

Might sue you? No they will sue you. Even if they are in the wrong.

Does that mean we are suppose to pretend to watch or actually watch? I am so confused!!!

September 30, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterWicked Step Mom

What the hell is that all about?

September 30, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterFrogs in my formula

Does that mean "watch" like gun it and mow them down?

    September 30, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterCasey

    "People" are so stupid.

    September 30, 2009 | Unregistered Commentergretchen

Do they hide the pedestrians in the bricks?

    But not really...

    September 30, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterJennifer

Superfluous quotation marks crack my shit up. This sign, although it is short, reads in my head thusly:

"Please at least pretend to appears as though you're watching for pedestrians so you have plausible deniability in court later and so that we can claim zero responsibility for your blatent negligence."

Um....all typos can be blamed on my raging head cold and teh fact that I'm 35 weeks pregnant. KThnksBye!

    September 30, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterCort

Well, that just seems a little sarcastic, no?

    September 30, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterSprite's Keeper

hahahahahahaha. Ahem. That's amusing. I'd make some crack about society being really crappy at grammar, but then there would be the inevitable spelling or grammatical error of my own in my response and it would just make me look like an idiot. BUT I'm thinkin' it.

    September 30, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterMelanie

LOL ... "Watch" ... doesn't say anything about don't hit them ... yield to them ... just "Watch" them.

The misplaced quotation marks just give and give and give. Check 'em out on Cakewrecks sometime:

    Happy Birthday, "Dad"

    September 30, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterBecky

Oh gawd. The annoying quote marks. One of my pet peeves, along with making words plural by adding an apostrophe. (ie: Watch for pedestrian's... grrrrr!!!!)
Somewhere there's a blog devoted to this grammar mistake but for the life of me I can't "remember" what it's called...

    ;)

    September 30, 2009 | Unregistered Commenterrobin

what happens if you don't "watch"? can you casually observe instead? or gaze? or...

i'll stop. it's hard to shut off the lawyer looking for loop holes

    September 30, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterJaime

I'm really bad with over-using the quotations but I still think that's funny!

    September 30, 2009 | Unregistered Commenterkyslp

I am always trying to find "signs" like this!! Funny "stuff!"

    September 30, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterKaylen

That's a riot. On a related annoying subject, I hate air quotes. They should be banned.
