I think I'm actually nervous about it
Friday, August 21, 2009 at 6:12AM For Christmas, my parents gave me this cute little handmade gift certificate that entitled the bearer (me, duh) to one day's babysitting each month, provided I used that day to do something creative. In other words, I can't use it to nap or clean the house or watch the second season of Battlestar Galactica. I have to Be An Artist.
It's August, and I've only managed to claim 2 of those days so far (Apparently they don't stack. I should have read the fine print, I was totally psyched for dropping my kid off for a week). So, riding the wave of creative mental energy from my holiday, I corralled my father into supervising my spawn tomorrow while I Draw Some Comics. I'm just going to sit, and draw.
Now...if only I had any idea what to draw.

What a great gift.
The second season of Battlestar? I'm on the last season and you can bet I'm stretching it out to make it last.
That is an awesome gift. Sometimes I am so drained at the end of the day that I can't think straight, let alone be creative.
Watching the second season of Battlestar is not creative?
I'd probably draw comics of me taking a nap or getting the laundry caught up. :-P
I'm thinking that email that was meantioned last week about - was it naked blogging? drinking while blogging? Well whatever it was I'm pretty sure they said Captain Dumbass came up with it. Maybe he'll have an idea for you.
Naked blogging though, that could be an interetsing comic topic...
When is cleaning not creative? I've seen some efforts that were done way outside the box..
Watching BG could be artistically stimulating though. Naked cartoon blogging?
What I wouldn't give to have a day to be creative. Although, I think I might have lost some of my spontaniety to reveal my true creative juices. Good luck.
I've got an idea for you. I need a librarian superhero from some videos I'm producing. Can we work a deal?
What a great gift! And I love their condition for it.
I take it blogging doesn't count as creative? It doesn't count as a dissertation either, sadly.
How about comics of your kids being kids?
Enjoy your day.
I'm kinda groovin' on this naked, drinking blogger theme - you could cartoon about really goes on behind the computer screen (or would that be in front of the computer screen?). Have fun!
good luck. I have no advice. I am a goat.
would it still count if you say, moved your furniture around before drawing it into the comic and say maybe cleaned under it sine it would ruin teh comic orare you talking real creative like imagine the furniture moved and cleaned nd the clean fairy showed up and the zombies came and made beds and painted walls?
That is an awesome gift! Everyone needs a day like that.
Draw your kid at your parents' house playing in the yard. Or something. Or pretend you're drawing and relax all day!
sounds like a blast! Whatever you do, enjoy it....ooh...maybe some zombie drawings for tuesday?
Draw some monster porn! Like sex between a zombie and a werewolf! LOL!
How about drawing blood?
No but really, blood is good to draw and all good comics have blood.
Any chance that time spent drawing would include children superhero outlines?
Well hey, at least you CAN draw.
I can't even draw stick people properly. When I make one people turn the page around and are all, "What is this? A horse?" and I say indignantly, "Actually, that WAS a person.."
Draw a Battlestar Galactica-nspired comic series. That way you can totally watch it for inspiration.
Always a loophole, babe ;-)
That is awesome. I hope you have some quality, creative, spawn-free time.
yes, yes, yes!!
comix, comix, comix!
do it!
:-)

That is such an awesome gift. Hope you had fun, post the comics you drew!
