Although by that point I may be satisfied with a nap and a good BM

My folks just returned from snowbirding in Arizona. (For those of you not in the know, 'snowbirds' are what they call retired Canadians who winter in the southern US. I've no idea if you're meant to use it as a verb or not. Probably.) In addition to some Roswell Alien Ale beer and a stuffed armadillo for my kid, my Mom brought me a little ceramic dreambox:

Isn't it pretty? The Legend of the Dreambox is that you "write down your fondest dream on a small piece of paper, put the paper in the dreambox and place it beside your bed. Every evening as you retire and every morning as you rise, hold your dreambox and think on your dream, believing with all your heart that it is so."

Except that I have a rambunctious toddler with free access to my bedside area, who likes to open my bedside table and rifle through it (a few awkward moments out of that. There is nothing in there now, nothing). So I guess, like a lot of things, my fondest dream will have to wait until my kid is grown up.

I'll get to you one day, Clown College. One day.

That is beautiful! I'm not usually one for Southwestern art, but it's SHINY.

I hope you mean a taxidermied armadillo.

At first I read that as "my parents just got back from SNOWBOARDING"

Maybe I should go find my glasses...

Pretty box.

It is pretty. We had one of those once. My middle kiddo used it to store his used bubble gum.

No place in the house is scared to a toddler. Clown college is still an obtainable goal http://www.clownevents.com/list-schools.shtml

I often ask my husband what he did with the money his parents gave him to go to clown college. He insists he spent it on anger management classes.

I also thought it said something about snow in Arizona and I don't need glasses... just a nap. And your damn picture won't load for me...

Okay, you got me with "Clown College." And um, these awkward moments you speak of. . . wouldn't know anything about that. ;)

I think the dream catcher/keeper is beautiful. But Clown College? What is that about? I must have missed something with your posts. LOL!

Ahhh, toddlers and their explorations. I believe we had a similar discovery at our house. Always good times.

Clown college, eh? I tried trapeze school once, but never clown college.

Huh, Florida is usually where the snowbirds go. (We call em bluehairs.) Maybe we were maxed out in occupancy?

What a lovely gift!

As for the stuffed armadillo ...

Wait... I thought it was to learn Chinese or Japanese or whatever.

Snowbirds are anybody who winters here! You just can't beat the AZ winter!

Clown College? Are the kids afraid of clowns and you're planning the ultimate revenge?! Hmmmmm....that is an idea I could run with!

Too bad she didn't bring back a real armadillo, that would be cool.

I like it! Can you put it up high, like on top of the fridge or something? I need you to go to clown college. Ringling college is about an hour south of me. Do it.

I had that problem with the bedside table and the toddler...

I've hidden he stuff under the bed now. I'm sure it's only a matter of time until he finds it there too.

I like the sparkles. That box is screaming for some good shit. Maybe you can keep it on top of your curtain rod over your bed or something. Don't give up on the box!

(Curtain rod idea is probably stupid. If it falls off and knocks you unconscious that would suck. I'd feel really bad. But you know what I was saying...)

Is it just me or does the design resemble little Star Trek insignias? Clowns are scary.

That's so pretty!
My grandparents were snowbirds, but they were from Oregon...does that count??
They brought stuff back for us all the time...never anything like that, though.
We got Mexican Nativity scenes, dolls, bobblehead chihauhaus and dates. As in the kind you eat sort. Gah.

I am hoping to avoid those type of awkward situations....

Hey-zeus Christ, it's like we were meant for each other.

I mis-read that too.

But I think you should get your folks to go snowboarding... and then start a band: 'The SnowBoardBirds'... ;-)
