Pretty sure I was whining about the cold last year, too: Random Tuesday Thoughts

randomtuesday

Like, hey, man. It's Tuuueesssday. Isn't that groovy?

Sorry. I had a spa date with FoN this afternoon. We got massages and pedis and now I feel extremely relaxed. Also, I smell like mangos and chocolate.

Wait! Don't go away. I know you usually show up here for the rage and bitterness, and there isn't any today, because I'm just soooooo relaxed. But at least stick around long enough to link your own Random Tuesday post. K? K.

Well, I am a little bitter about the weather. It's minus 41 with the wind chill. That is really fucking cold, people. Exposed skin (should you be brave enough) freezes within a couple of minutes. I've wondered it before and I'll probably wonder it again, but - who the hell was marching along and thought, "Hm, this seems like a good place to stop. Let's make a town! It's even possible we'll survive!"

Blippy.com. Where you can see what your friends are buying. Oh HAI, Big Brother! I didn't see you watching there!

The massage therapist worked the kink out of my neck, which I'm pretty sure was a direct result of hunching up in anger at work. It feels fantastic. Just in time for me to go back to hunching tomorrow.

While I was at the spa I was reading Women's Health, because I like to pretend I'm skinny and fit in addition to being pampered. There was a blurb in there for MixMyGranola.com. Really?

The mag was from April so I figured MixMyGranola couldn't possibly be still in business, but there it is. I guess there are enough people that have the burning desire to tell their friends they have their breakfast cereal custom-made.

Rodent Playoff score this season: Me, 2, Mousies, 0.

I did the 30 day Shred yesterday. But today I went to the spa. I think that exempts me.

I didn't say it was logical.

I still don't have a Christmas tree. I have all the decorations I want for this years 'theme' (blue and silver and gunmetal grey), but it's been too frakkin' cold to go browse the vegetation. I seem to remember this happening last year, and it never did warm up at a convenient time so we ended up buying one of the last few on the last day the lot was open, and the weather was still unholy.

Whee! It's a Christmas tradition!

Also, and I can hardly believe this, but I've been spewing this nonsense for well over a year now. So, Random Tuesdays are pretty much a tradition. Go forth! And dazzle us with your shiny Christmas tidbits!

(Heh.)

I always wondered about some of the unGodly places that cities sprung up. I can see logic behind some, but there are others that really do make no sense. It was like the convoy ran out of gas at that point!

I have no tree yet. I can't wait until January!!! :)

Oh i would so sign it for the spa treatment.. especially on this freakin' cold weather.. it's 32 degrees outside so I'm glad we picked the tree when there was 45 still:) and no, i was not bragging at all:P ha ha :)

But last year we picked the tree on the Christmas Night.. oh the horror. The car didn't work so we had to drag the tree home all the way... needless to say we were the only crazy people on the streets that night and the last ones to buy a tree seconds before it was shoved into the shredder:)

Happy Randomness!!

At this rate, there may not be a need to put a tree up.
I, for one, am happy that you've kept the Random Tuesday Thoughts going. Keep it up for another year. Heck, even another 5 years. I enjoy reading yours for sure.

Yay for being relaxed. Wait until it warms up before you get your tree. Minus 41? Geesh!

Wow. I thought it was cold here, but I think you guys have us beat. :(

First of all, you and FoN...spa date? Suck it!

Plus I wonder sometimes why my family couldn't have "set up shop" somewhere like Southern California instead of the windy city...wtf? I wonder how different my life would be.

Wow. I'm so happy to have found you. Another mom out there with a sailormouth. Yay. Now I don't feel so alone in the world. love the blog. happy holly days - hope the spa treatment lasts for a good, long while.

I'm sorry, did you say -41? Because I think I just had a seizure at the thought of that temperature. Here in Oklahoma we're residing at a balmy 8 degrees for today, and I really thought about bitching about it for a second until my brain started SEIZING UP at the thought of MINUS FORTY ONE. Do thermometers even capture that temperature?!

Stacy (the Random Cool Chick) said...

I won't tell you it's going to be in the 50's (+50 Fahrenheit which is like a thousand degrees Celcius or something, isn't it?) Oh, wait, too late.

A day at the spa with FoN? I'm jealous. I want to be relaxed and smell like mangos and chocolate, too.

Way to start those 'traditions' early - might as well make it an annual event. ;)

Happy RTT! :)

I am such a health food dork. I am checking out the custom granola now.

::sigh:: I miss junk food with its many preservatives that I am allergic too.

I have an unused gift cert. for a massage from like 3 years ago... think its still good??

That Blippy thing is fucked.

Happy Random Tuesday Anniversary and thank you for sharing. I don't do it as good as you, but I sure look forward to it.

Ps. Thanks for rubbing the spa thing in our faces, hehhee.

That is cold! I justunwrapped my tree on the front porch. We bought it in the pouring rain on Sunday and just plopped it on the porch to dry out. You're not to far behind us.

Spa day sounds way better than the shred.

Jennifer said...

I like this tradition. It is the only reason I look forward to Tuesdays.

Oh yeah, and what about New Orleans. Who thought it would be a good idea to build a city in a hole in the ground where you are attacked by hurricanes??? The French, that's who. So that should tell you something right there.

Happy Birthday to RTT! Many more to come I hope. There is not end to random.

Mrsbear said...

Minus 41. Are you still required to go to work? Shouldn't you be in hibernation or something?

I have a Fitness magazine subscription. It makes me feel athletic.

Spa days sound nice except for the people touching you and all.

Otter Thomas said...

That is way too cold for human life. It also makes me wonder where these mice are coming from. They must be polar mice or abominable snow mice.

Elle said...

I'm allergic to mango so I'll just keep my distance.

That is some serious cold. I'd have someone deliver my tree. My sister-in-law would do that every year and I thought it was stupid, but you get an exemption.

Sprite's Keeper said...

Spa days do exempt you from the Shred, but it doesn't exempt you from the calories. When they find something that does, they will charge quadruple the value, and I will pay every penny and smile.

Here's a Christmas tidbit, my halloween pumpkin is still on the porch. What? Who the heck actually uses the front door? Not I.

Custom made cereal? Really? So if I mix cocoa crispies and coco puffs I could make a living by it?

IF you'd like to sign up, just email me and send me gobs of money.

Happy Tuesday (don't freeze mmk? Cause Tuesdays are the days I live for.)

Anne said...

Going to the spa totally exempts you from working out. It would negate all the work the masseuse did. Good luck with the Christmas tree. I don't know that a Christmas tree is worth facing the bitter cold. Why can't they sell trees inside, where it is warm?

Cole said...

Minus 41?! I'm putting on extra layers just thinking about that!!

Julie@Momspective said...

Ooh...the spa. I'm getting my hair done today. That's spa enough for me!

Desert Rose said...

Ahh, a trip to the spa sounds wonderful..I'm officially in my 30's now, and I've NEVER been to the spa. Ugh. I like the colors you have chosen for your Christmas decor..I love the blues and silver..just add some black and it's good to go. And as for the weather..that goodness for good ole AZ where I live..you wouldn't catch my frozen ass in those temps that you are experiencing!

Jan said...

That -41 is in Celsius, right? According to all those nifty Fahrenheit/Celsius calculators, that's -41.8 degrees Fahrenheit. How is that, when 0 C is 32 F?

Oh well, whatever it is, it sounds frakkin' COLD.

Brandy said...

I love me some fake prelit christmas trees! that's the way to go.

and i'm sooooooo jel of your spa day. hate you a little.

kyooty said...

that Blippy sounds down right scary, what about identity theft? I'm having a hard enough time with my nonsense picture being up for FB lately.

slommler said...

Spa days sounds marvy!!! But -41 you can keep right where it is. Are you crazy?? Why did you settle there? LOL!! I am with Brandy...I have a fake BLACK Christmas tree that is pre-lit! Love it..all done in white, black and silver!! Coolness huh?

I should clarify that when I say "It's cold" in my post, I mean Virginia cold. Not the kind of cold you are talking about.

Amy@Bitchin'WivesClub said...

Good lord, it is cold there! Did you know that at -40, though, that farenheit and celcius are exactly the same? How's that for random.... I even work it into my comments, babe.

My work is done here.

Mama Badger said...

Ok, I know we all have our weather woes, but -41? That's just wrong. Seriously, you could snap off an ear or something.

Our tree progressed to the point when it went up and got some lights. Now it's just sitting in the front room mocking me. I'd rather it still be at the lot...

Kaylen said...

I typically do the same wait-out-the-weather for the tree buying trip. This year I went earlier in the month because it was so nice outside (read: DRY). It is a MUCH better way to do it!!!!

I LOVE spa days!!

I had to re enter the linky sorry, I put the wrong link in originally.

happy anniversary RTT! that's all i have. i'm all out of clever.

gift cards seem to sit in my purse forever before they are ever used don't know why but I just seem to forget about them or something

Heather said...

If we didn't have to get the yearly (ok, so it's only the second year we've been doing it) Christmas card picture done to send out the cards our tree wouldn't be up yet either...because while I like the look once it's done, I'm way too lazy to care about it actually getting done.

Woo hoo for spa day! I haven't had a massage in about two years, while hubby gets one done every month...something not right with that!

Bowing down to the RTT queen, thanks for running the awesomeness that is Random Tuesday Thoughts!

Seansmoma said...

My Christmas decor is also blue and silver/grey. I love it. Very soothing.

I wish I could afford MixMyGranola.com. It looks like so much fun! Hehe.

Happy Tuesday!

BassAckwards Mom said...

wahhh. I cant go to any spa days.. I have H1N1 :( But I've missed ya'll so I decided to do a RTT today!!

Becky said...

You shredded! I can't remember, have you done it before or did you just start? Awesome!

And good grief, RTT is like an internet institution!

Kate Hanley said...

Love this blog! We actually don't get a Christmas tree anymore because I HATE going in search of one. Instead, we decorate our house with our ornaments. Good luck with the cold, that just sucks!

aimeewrites said...

Thought you'd like to know that I'm winning the Fantasy Rodent Pool thanks to your victories. Keep up the good work, and I may win a block of cheese!

Stacy said...

Maybe you should just go to Home Depot and get a real looking tree, they do have heat there, so it shouldn't be too cold. =) Happy RTT! You should join Elle and I for our What the Hell Wednesday! It's fun to complain, it's like online therapy that's free!

Casey said...

Goddamn it Keely, you need to invite me to your damn spa days. I need a spa day, except I don't like people touching me. Why don't you invite me to your drinking days instead? It's been a bad day here and I'm sitting on my patio in 75 degree (Fahrenheit) weather drinking like a fish and smoking like a chimney. And I rarely drink and don't smoke. Let's meet halfway for a drink, shall we? I'll bet you and FoN are a fun crew to hang with and you have great taste in ceiling fans.

Suzie Que said...

Custom granola? Really? That's a whole other level of yuppie-dom I have yet to achieve.

Lisa (aka LadyWanderlust) said...

Can't talk to you right now...the jealousy in my heart from your spa day is eating away at my soul.... LOL Lisa

AS Amber said...

Wow. I feel really dumb for complaining about the 5 degree weather we had last week here in Utah.

Minus 41??? Is that farenheit?? Holy shit that's beyond cold. That makes 5 seem like laying out at the pool weather!

Ane Fallarme said...

I need to get me a mani/pedi and a massage, before the in laws get here!

I wish we had a mixmygranola thing here too, it would be so awesome! :D

It's awesome that you can have a real tree for Christmas, that's virtually unheard of here, we use fake trees that look real... :D

I can't believe another year is almost over!

Petra a.k.a The Wise (*Young*) Mommy said...

This here lady is super jealous that you got a massage, I need one soooooooo baaaaaaaaaad. now I can't even come up with anything funny or witty to say. Poo. Anyway, glad you enjoyed it :)

You're a hoot! I just found your blog and love the random posts! I have randomness too. Actually, I think I posted a random post yesterday, so I'll link it up with yours today! :)

I've done the 30 Day Shred. Well, maybe not for 30 days. It was more like the 5 day Shred. Not really a "shred" more like a "tear".
