When kids books get a little too obscure

("Aaannhh-urgh! Aaannhh-urgh!" pretty much sums up how I've been feeling lately. "Aaannhh-urgh! Aaannhh-urgh!", you guys.)

LOVE it!! I have been reading to my 4 month old as much as possible...and sometimes I just have to make stuff up because the book just doesn't make sense. Thankfully she doesn't know the difference - yet!

Happy Hump Day!!

Okay, so I've never even heard of a Gerenuk. Does my kid really need to know what that is? I'm all for providing a variety of culture to my kid, but really?

I'm with Katherine what is a Gerenuk is that one of those combo animals like labadoddle?

Why isn't your child being sucked into a DVD!?

See this is why my kids will tell me a story about school and it will make no sense. "Today we read a story about a gerenuk and an animal that goes Aaannhh-urgh!" See? Gibberish!

..those are just wierd.

I'm not into the offbeat children's books. Some of them are really reaching to "teach" when kids just want to look at pictures and repeat the same thing over and over.

Seriously...somebody got paid to create that masterpiece.

I've popped over here a few times from Otin's blog. That was a great post, yeah sometimes I don't get it either. Luckily, my kids are reading on their own now so I don't have to try to decipher the books anymore.

And you know somebody thought that was just the best, most innovative idea. Hmmm...

Hmm, animals going in for some jungle sexing? WTH? Ok, maybe that's not what you meant.

I bought this book called Olivia's Opposites way back before I had kids since I was drunk in a store and it seemed kind of dirty to me. Now I read that stupid book to my kids all the time.

I can reach up high like the Ger..uh...antelope thingy. But I can't touch my toes. That makes me say "Aaannhh-urgh!"

oh lord there are some horrid kids books out there. Do they think kids will like anything? What about the poor parents who have to read them? Gah.

Sounds like a book I would "accidentally" lose. I do that quite a bit, as we've acquired some real duds!

Very weird. I'm still feeling sorry for the moose in the dumpster too. Sigh. I may need to move west - you guys got way more interesting shit out there than us.

I agree. Aaannhh-urgh!

Wow... it makes you long for the good old days of "Little Critter," doesn't it?

It seems that kids books are now more about quantity than quality...

Is that a book all about humping. Cause it sure looks like it :)

Use it!

My first thought was...I gotta get this book immediately.

But then I flashed to the 187th time I was reading it aloud to my kids.

So, nevermind.
