Does the Blue Man Group sleep on memory foam? I bet they bought the protective cover if they do : Random Tuesday Thoughts

randomtuesday

So! It's Tuesday. I have to be honest, this Tuesday isn't as exciting for me as LAST Tuesday, when I was screaming like a teenage girl watching No Doubt perform. But my mind HAS been wandering all over the place today. Want to know where it went?

I think it left a trail of brain slime, let's follow that...

Conversation with my Mom after she generously babysat the toddler so hubby and I could shop for a new bed in peace:

Mom: "So, did you get one?"

Me: "Yep!"

Mom: "What did you get?"

Me: "Memory foam."

Mom: "Ooooohhh...nice!"

Me: "Yeah! I even got the pillow. I was laying on my side and my spine was totally straight. Everything was in alignment. It was just like on TV. I was an infomercial! The infomercials are right."

Mom: "...I hate that."

I was driving home today and saw a billboard ad for the Blue Man Group. Their makeup looked very...shiny. So then I started thinking, what kind of makeup do they use exactly? Because spending that much time in greasepaint would pretty much stain you blue permanently. Are they willing to make that sacrifice for their art? Nah, it looks too shiny to be greasepaint. Maybe it's some kind of space-age formula, plastics based. Like...Flubber, or something.

Plus, how do they get it on and off? Do they spend hours in the makeup chair for each show? Or do they just bathe in blue stuff? Can you imagine trying to exist without getting blue fingerprints all over every single thing you own? They could never commit a crime. Do you think they have special shower stalls waiting for them the instant they get off stage? I'm now really concerned with the logistics of being the Blue Man Group.

Easily amused Inquiring minds want to know, people.

Hubby and I are considering buying an older used camper trailer to holiday in this summer.

And by older, I mean "older than ME", because that's what we can afford.

Yeah, I don't know why we think spending a week in a moldy canvas bag is a good idea, either.

Our new bed is being delivered on Friday. My inlaws are also going to be in town that day. Do you think it's rude to ask them to leave early so we can test out our new purchase?

By NAPPING. I'm talking about SLEEPING. Pervs.

A friend of hubby's is holding an informal karate class twice a week for friends and family. My dream of starring in my own action flick and doing all my own stunts but being really down-to-earth about it is that much closer to reality!

(I know, I said FoN and I were going to take karate once before. But we didn't. This one is free, I'm FAR more likely to go.)
And...I think I've outdone myself on randomness, this week. I'm having trouble coming up with a title. Want to play? Grab the button, post your weirdness randomness, link up with Mr. Linky and then visit your cohorts in randomosity! Be sure to leave a blue fingerprint comment!

It is never rude to ask in laws to leave! Also, maybe the Blue man group does not use make up, maybe they ate some blueberry gum at Willy Wonkas!

Mr Linky is not here, I see some people using a new thing called McLinky! Anyway, if you enter your name and URL, instead of using your blogger profile, you will go right to the blog instead of the persons profile page!

Great randomness. I am jealous of the new bed. We really need one.

Maybe the blue man group sprays their make-up on? It looks kind of gross to me.

Camping is so not my thing. If it doesn't have room service, I'm so not in. Campers creep me out. My mom and step-dad have a really nice pimped out one (it has2 freaking plasma tv's in it), but it still creeps me out.

I'm glad to see it's not just me who can't see Mr Linky. He sucks. Here's mine:

I've seen The Blue Man Group several times and even have a picture of one of those blue bastards stealing my beer. Seriously, he reached down, took a swig and left a huge blue greasy ring on the bottle. We then proceeded to buy him another and took several goofy pictures with him. His blueness got on my clothes and I seriously couldn't get it out. I'm sure they're the memory foam people's worst nightmare.

Blue Man Group, I don't know where I heard this, but the face paint is a latex that gets painted on and then peeled off for quicker, um, disrobing.
I still find it creepy.

Oh good, I'm not the only one who's curious about the Blue Man Group and their seemingly extra shiny blue makeup and the blue fingerprints situation... Hopefully someone will enlighten us! ;)

Ooooh! Memory Foam - so the infomercials are correct, eh? I'll wait to decide after you've updated us on your thorough tests... ;)

I wonder if hubby would be more interested in camping if we got one of those ancient campers? I love to camp, he'd rather stay in a motel... :)

An informal karate class that's free sounds like a great opportunity...then you'll have some mad skillz to go along with your Ninja outfit! ;)

There is not a single infomercial out there that can't convince me I need three of whatever they're selling. I'm very susceptible to their particular brand of sales tactics.

And I have a homemade ravioli maker that I never use to prove it.

See if you can rent a trailer. I can give you the name of the guy who hooked us up. It's $300/week, which isn't so bad. Unless you are keen on becoming 'camping people' and plan to be taking off every weekend to be one with nature and all that. Then you should buy one.

Laufa said...

OK, cheaper and nicer to just go to a hotel than a camper, that you have to clean yourself.
Bluemen...have you seen that painted on bathing suits? Same idea, except blue all over and can still move around.
Grats on the new bed!! Have fun breaking it in. heheh

I have a memory foam topper for my bed which is fabulous...can't imagine how wonderful and entire bed of it is...ahhhhh.

My DH is all about camping. I used to be. Haven't been able to "get it up" for the tent since I've been pregnant or nursing for the past four years. Maybe in like 2 years. Now he wants to put the tent in the backyard right by our bedroom window so that he can watch tv in our bedroom when the kids fall asleep. He is getting old and lame, too.

I wish I could afford to see the BMG. I have wondered about their makeup too. Weird.

We want a name brand memory foam bed eventually. However, we own a very nice mattress that is made with a similar product. It's a Stearns and Foster. It's a good thing Mr. B works for a furniture store. It was free! Best purchase we never made!

Jennifer said...

I think it is latex that they use, kind of like a mask and when they are done they just peel it off.

Kind of like your clothes when your inlaws leave so you can try out you new bed... by taking a nap of course.

Pseudonymous High School Teacher said...

I've been loving the random posts on Tuesdays for awhile and finally got it together to play along...

BTW, am jealous of your memory foam bed. Have beed coveting one for a long time.

Perpetua said...

Did you see the episodes of Arrested Development where Tobias wants to be in the Blue Man Group?

Sorry, Michael, I just blue myself. :)

The Peach Tart said...

Hey when you were in the store testing out your mattress did you try out that trick where they sit a glass of red wine on one side of the bed and then jump up and down?

I bet that would have freaked the salesman out.

Mama Badger said...

We, too, went the memory foam path. Ahhh, sinking into oblivian. Warning, you might need to sleep with an open window for a day or so. It was kind of stinky at first!

As for the blue men: It takes a Blue Man approximately one hour to get in costume for the show. The Blue Men wear grease paint on their heads. It never dries. This effect allows the Blue Men to maintain that wet gooey look throughout the show.

Didn't anyone else just go to the website to find out? Damn people, use the interwebs for something other than porn once in a while...

kirsty815 said...

Do you find it hard to roll over on the memory foam? I bought a pillow top and will never do that again! Have you tried balancing a glass of red wine on one side and jumping on the other yet? lol

Oh, Memory foam! Sounds nice. I have a sleep number and I LOVE it.

Ha ha ha I've wondered about the Blue Man Group myself.

Your making me want to buy a new mattress. Mine sucks!
I want a little travel tailor as well. Maybe not one older than me though.
Seriously Blue Man Group, what is up with the makeup?! We want answers!

Blogging Mama Andrea said...

The Blue Man Group, that is weird. I hadn't thought about that. The not touching anything and how long it must take. I wonder if it's like second skin stuff? You know like the stuff they use instead of stiches. It could be. You just never know.

Angel said...

I am now insanely courious about the blue man group make up and must research it. I love your randomness Keely Every tuesday just makes me smile!

We were thisclose to buying a memory foam bed but it ended up being a little too pricey for our sad budget. They look heavenly, though! And hell yeah, kick out the inlaws, to um, nap. Sure. :)

Mmmmm...memory foam...sounds all cushy and cozy!

I've always wanted to see the Blue Man Group but never put any thought into what goes into being a blue man. Now it's taking up entirely too much of my thought process.

My friend saw the Blue Man Group and HATED it. They threw toilet paper at the crowd and then sprayed them with water. Her outfit was ruined (and she was dating a guy with money so she had worn her nicest outfit).

Sigh.

Memory foam huh? Is it, um, extra bouncy? For, you know, sleeping?

Becky said...

Congratulations on your new mattress purchase! We have a memory foam mattress pad, and I have a memory foam pillow which nobody is allowed to use but me. I think with an entire mattress, I would go wild with pleasure. Enjoy the napping.

I must be going crazy cause I thought I linked myself earlier today but...I didn't. I'm going nuts.

I THINK I once saw that they actually wear a suit and the make up is only around their eyes. But then again I THOUGHT I was here earlier... Maybe it's a time warping thing. Maybe I'm losing my mind.

Ah, how I've missed your randomness...

I would SO be testing the bed by napping. My spine hasn't been in alignment in years.

Raven said...

Excellent randomness, once again. Your bit about the Blue Man Group made me think of an episode of 'Angel' (yes, I can relate anything to 'Buffy' or 'Angel') where Fred was contemplating whether or not they were demons and Angel informed her that 2 members of the Blue Man Group were indeed demons. Not so funny if you've never seen that episode, but I got a laugh out of it.

Congrats on the new bed, there's nothing like a good bed. I have a Sealy Posturepedic (not sure how to spell that) and I love it.

Have a great day!
